Blog Post On Book Character Valentine Cards

Valentine Cards From Enda

It’s February, and since Groundhog Day is over, it’s time to move on to Valentine’s Day. Ah, Valentine’s Day. It is a day of showing our loved ones how much we appreciate them. A day of chocolate, flowers, a dinner I don’t have to cook, and more chocolate. I’m a chocoholic; I admit it.

When my children were little, we gave each other homemade Valentine’s cards. It was fun to draw and think of silly things to say on each card. Everyone is grown up now, so I’ll use my creative talents on you, readers. Here are my Valentine’s Day gifts to you, Enda Character Valentines.

1. Sargon Valentines

These are the cards of two characters from my fantasy novel Sargon The Not So Great. First, we have our star who started it all, Sargon.

Sargon The Not So Great

Sargon is a blue loatron from the town of Clewside on the magical island of Enda. His protective loatron magic is running. When he’s frightened or in danger, he zooms off at super speed. It’s rather embarrassing, and Sargon is learning to deal with it.

What does Sargon run from most often? The evil dragon Fyriun. I doubt I would accept a Valentine from him, but here’s one for you if you want to risk it.

Fyriun The Mighty

Fyriun is a rusty red dragon who ruled southern Enda for centuries. He has accumulated quite a horde of treasure, including artwork and beautiful objects. Fyriun likes to arrange his riches in tasteful groups and settings for visitors to enjoy. Since this dragon guild master rarely has visitors, he’s the only one appreciating them.

2. Adorabelle Valentines

In my second fantasy novel, Adorabelle The Not So Adorable, a different loatron is the main character. When asked to contribute a Valentine to show her sweeter side, Adorabelle refused—loudly. A possible threat may have been made. Sorry, Adorabelle. You get a Valentine anyway.

Adorabelle The Not So Adorable

The younger sister of Sargon, Adorabelle, is a peachy pink loatron who looks delicate and sweet but is a rough and tough warrior in training. Her mother is appalled at this career choice for a young lady but can’t hold off her permission to train forever. Now, if Adorabelle can only find the right warriors to train her. She’s going to need combat training because Adorabelle is fighting with mermaids. One mermaid, in particular, is her frenemy, Shelly.

Shelly The Mermaid

Shelly is a pink-haired, black-eyed mermaid with a magic shell. The shell sometimes talks, gives information or even makes prophecies. Shelly loves her shell. When she’s not showing off to the other mermaids, she’s hanging out with her bossy and powerful cousin Raquell.

3. Manjucatus Valentines

It’s dragon time! Book 3, Manjucatus The Not So Mean, stars the greedy nephew of Fyriun. He’s clever and ambitious enough to steal from his fierce uncle. Here’s Manjucatus!

Manjucatus The Not So Mean

Manjucatus, or Manny as I like to call him, is a junior apprentice in the dragon guild who’s out to collect (steal) treasure and earn a guild master badge. He’s a small emerald-green dragon who prefers brains over brawn. Befriending a group of dragpars (think little dragons), he’s working on a scheme to have them help him steal treasure. The dragpar chief, Rory, is trying to decide if this will benefit his tribe or not.

Chief Rory

Rory, the Scath Mountain dragpar chief, has his claws full with a tribe of flame-spitting, chatty, not-too-bright dragpars. He’s a brown dragpar with the magic to shed up to three duplicates. His idea of treasure is a silver spoon or broken knife. His favorite treasure is his shrewd daughter, Shimmer.

Shimmer

Shimmer is a pure white dragpar with light blue eyes. After her mother died, she took it upon herself to watch out for her father and the other dragpars even though she was just a youngling.

There you have it—valentines from the magical land of Enda. When I learn more about using Canva, I’ll add more characters. The best part is thinking of what the characters would want written on their cards. I’m still laughing at Adorabelle’s ‘Nope’.

Have a Happy Valentine’s Day—or Galentine’s Day. Read more about the tradition of giving Valentine Cards at britannica.com.
