This ragtag team of unlikely heroes has been chosen to defend Enda from a rampaging dragon. Sure, they’re not adults, but who says kids can’t save the world? Especially mythical youngsters.

I’d like to introduce you to the characters of Sargon the Not So Great, who make up the first Heroes of Enda Team. We can call them Team Sargon if you like.

Team Sargon. Their mission: save Clewside from a greedy, vengeful dragon bent on destroying the medieval town. Their weapons, loatron magic, an oil that kills dragons, and a few swords.

1. The Leader

SARGON

The Leader: A twelve-year-old purple, uh, blue, loatron named Sargon. He’s smart and brave, with magic that lets him run lightning fast. The only problem is that he can’t control his speed. Or stop when he wants to. Similar to his fast-talking mouth that gets him into trouble when he boasts he’ll kill the dragon in the first place.

Sargon teams up with his two loatron friends, Mathan and Willoughby.

WILLOUGHBY

2. The Brains

The Brains: Eleven-year-old Willoughby, a bright green loatron who’s out to prove how smart he really is. With his knowledge of dragon lore, he will lead this team to the dragon and advise them on the battle. Well, if he can keep from fainting. Apparently, his loatron magic is fainting. Not sure how that protects him, but magic is magic, right?

MATHAN

3. The Muscle

The Muscle: Thirteen-year-old Mathan, a cousin of Willoughby, is the epitome of the strong and silent type. He’s brave and loyal and keeps a cool head in any crisis. A valuable asset to have when fighting dragons. At least when he isn’t distracted by food.

ADORABELLE

4. The Troublemaker

The Annoying Sibling: Sargon’s little sister is a peachy-pink loatron who’s snarl of anger only makes her look cuter. Adorabelle dreams of being a warrior someday, and joining her brother and his stupid friends to kill a dragon is the perfect way to show her mother she is warrior material. Strong and brave, she lives by the motto: fight, fight, and keep fighting. Unfortunately, it’s usually with her brother and the other team members.

BROTHER DUNSTAN

5. The Boss

The Boss: Who organizes and keeps this team on task? The fifteen-year-old junior monk, Dunstan. The only human in the group, it’s Dunstan’s job to ensure that they know what they’re getting into and to advise them. However, when he’s kidnapped by the dragon, the team’s battle turns into a rescue mission. Save Dunstan, save Clewside.

FYRIUN

6. Their Target

Their Target or Enemy: Fyriun the Ferocious, an ancient dragon who’s past his prime but looking for one last score to give him the edge over the other guildmembers competing for dragon chief. With the treasure he loots from Clewside, he’s sure to land the cushy retirement job as head of the dragon guild. The pesky loatrons who give him heartburn have to go first.

There you have it, the main heroes of Sargon The Not So Great and the main villain. Did I mention heroic centaurs and evil curse-throwing mermaids as well? You’ll have to read the book to learn more about them and find out how Team Sargon does against a powerful dragon, or two.
