Imagine the Marvel anti-hero Loki as a dragon. Now, instead of becoming king to impress his dad, what if he thinks stealing his dead uncle’s treasure will win his father’s affection?
Meet Manjucatus, the new star of my third book in the Tales of Enda series. Call him Manny. It’s easier to remember, even though he hates that nickname.
Oh, you’ve met before, haven’t you? Yes, you’ve read about Manny in:
1. Book One
In book one, Sargon The Not So Great, Manny visits his rich Uncle Fyriun and tricks him into searching for a phoenix to recover his strength. While his uncle is gone, he hopes to break into his treasure room and steal some gold. His uncle is so rich he’d probably never even notice, right?
2. Book Two
Manny’s back as a hired helper for an evil mermaid. In Adorabelle The Not So Adorable, he’s hoping to get sunken treasure for his work. Things don’t go exactly as planned as, once again, an annoying loatron gets in his way. Loatrons!
3. Short Story
Ever wonder what childhood experiences could make a good dragon go bad? How about when the young dragon Manny rescues a human that isn’t who he claims to be? You can read The Treasure Of Manjucatus and learn more about the dragon protagonist of my latest novel.
4. Book Three
That’s right, Manjucatus has earned his own book. After all that sneaking, stealing, and downright lying, Manny has an opportunity to find real treasure and be the hero we always knew he could be. Manjucatus The Not So Mean or Manny The Not So Mean (I’m still debating on a last-minute title change) is in the last round of editing. That means book three will be out in Spring 2025.
What do you think of this dragon hero? Comment below and let me know if you like heroes or anti-heroes better. Who’s your favorite? I like both heroes and anti-heroes, but Artemis Fowl is one of my favorite children’s anti-hero books.
